IDAB Holds Roundtable Meeting with Representatives of Leading Interior Design Company

Dhaka, 12 September 2026: A significant roundtable meeting was held with representatives of some of Bangladesh’s leading interior design Company to discuss the current state of the interior design industry, ongoing professional challenges, and future priorities.

Organized by the Interior Designers Association of Bangladesh (IDAB), the meeting took place yesterday at Bamboo Shoot Restaurant in Gulshan, Dhaka. The session was moderated and presented by Sajib Jahan, Principal Architect of DWL, and Saiful Islam Saron, CEO of CCL Interior.

The meeting was attended by Syed Quamrul Ahsan, President of IDAB and CEO of Alcov; Shafiul Islam, CEO of Design Doctors; Mohammad Shariful Islam, Principal Interior Architect of Design Source Architecture and Interior; IDr. Anamul Haque, Founder & Chief Interior Designer of Interior Concept & Design Ltd.; Maruf Liaquat, CEO of Interior Studio; Suman, Managing Director of Sara Interior; Md Tayebur Rahman, Founder & CEO of Area Architects & Interior; and Shawkat Imran Khan, CEO of My Kitchen.

Representing the event sponsor, Trustee Lamination, Managing Partner Ariful Islam and Mainuddin were also present.

During the roundtable, participants held detailed discussions on several key issues affecting Bangladesh’s interior design sector, including the current state of the industry, professional challenges, market conditions, industry discipline, the professional recognition and dignity of interior designers, and opportunities for future development.

Particular emphasis was placed on the No-Free Design Policy, with participants discussing the importance of establishing a minimum design fee and standard site visit charges. The representatives expressed a shared commitment to promoting professional standards, ensuring fair valuation of design services, and establishing more disciplined practices across the industry.

The meeting also resulted in important decisions aimed at advancing the interior design sector, protecting the interests of professionals, and encouraging collective efforts for the sustainable growth of the industry.

The roundtable concluded with a commitment to continue working collaboratively on other important industry issues and to take necessary steps toward implementing the decisions and recommendations made during the meeting.

Participants expressed optimism that initiatives of this nature will play an important role in ensuring the sustainable development of Bangladesh’s interior design industry, strengthening professional unity, and building a more organized and progressive future for the sector.
